I’m showing a half hour documentary I made following sculptor Jim Brenner building a monumental softball backstop in Northeast Minneapolis over the last couple years. It’s showing next Tuesday night at the Ritz Theater at 345 13th Ave. NE in Minneapolis at 7 pm. I’ll show a cartoon first and there will be a panel discussion afterwards. There is a suggested $10 donation to pay for the great space.

This is what Steve Brandt wrote in the Star Trib last week.

Here it is on the MTN website.

The short I made for the MNKino Friday night. I also showed it at Cheap Theatre on Saturday night.

I will be showing my new cartoon, “Bounce,” a short story about grieving and pogo sticks, at Cheap Theatre at the Black Forest Inn Festsaal banquet space at 9 East 26th St at 7:30 pm this Saturday night, Nov. 19th. Tickets are $10 at the door or get one from me at all my convenient locations (for example, I will be tabling at the Walker Art Center Saturday afternoon 1-4 for the Youth Media Market).

There are a whole line-up of storytellers for this Cheap Theatre evening riffing on the theme of “Bounce.” My cartoon is partly based on a dream I had after my father’s death.

Deer Diary has made it into a couple festivals the last few weeks. In October it was at the SoDak Animation Festival in Brookings, SD. Last weekend (on Minnesota’s deer hunting opening day, no less) it played in Northern Wisconsin at the Big Lake Film Festival. Here is their description of it:
“Okay, so November in Wisconsin may not be the best time to show a film that takes an iconoclastic view of the state’s pre-Thanksgiving, blaze-orange draped Holy Week. But we think even those audience members who are already out scouting their deer stands will be able to appreciate the delightful animation and soundtrack of this film. Who knew deer hummed so melodically?”
And coming up in December, watch “Deer Diary” on Twin Cities Public Television on the MNTV program.
