John, thanks for putting this film “out there.” Once again seeing the magic of those two days brought smiles, tears, and satisfaction that all the work that we had put into that first fair still resonates today 19 years later. The fair was a way to promote and share the beauty and diversity of our community. Dave moved away, Leo passed, Carol helped create the Loring Art Fair, and Brenna still exhibits at Powderhorn, and her artwork has evolved like all of us over the years. I wonder, does Phil still make pottery somewhere? Is George Hoffman still around here? And I sure do wish I had bought one of those loon whistles. The artists interviewed represented MN and IA, not CA or FL like today. I loved the localness of it. Not only does your film depict the warmth and beauty of that original fair, but it reflects a cohesiveness of community. I know I have a copy of this film filed away with archives, but your making it available to the greater community is heartwarming and invigorating. I’m glad that the first fair’s momentum was caught by your immensely in tune and creative self.
