An outline

The Author reads from Symphony of a Thousand Novel from Zero

This video was recorded at the reading/publishing party at the Frank Stone Gallery on January 31, 2004. Greg Carr, the Ancient Mixmaster, provided a bed of music over which I read several passages of the book. All the recordings he played and mixed were from 78 rpm records.

For the tape I included the beginning of the book, the scene where young Faustus invents television, and story of the radio and the village of Faustus, and the scene where Mephisto takes Faustus shopping.

I edited it together by cutting between the shots of two static cameras that I set up for the reading, and added some very simple animations mostly made up from WingDing fonts. It is all put together in such a way that will alienate most anyone who tries to watch it. It is 29 minutes and 10 seconds long. DV. Feb. 2004.
